Comparison of Milani Holos vs China Glaze Kaleidoscopes

Wow, the response to my very first giveaway has been just tremendous!! And continuing with the Follow for Holos, aka Holla for Holos, theme, I present here a comparison between the Milani holos (which are part of the giveaway) and the Kaleidoscopes that I have (8 out of 12 in the collection).

The purple Milani "Hi-Res" is rather a grape purple (like grape juice, not the wine-colored grape), and is not duplicated by my Kaleidoscopes. The yellow-green Milani "Hi-Tek" is also not duplicated. The four Milani holos that can be compared are the gold, silver, blue, and pink.

I think the closest comparison is between the blues. The Milani blue, "Cyberspace," has a bit more blue to it but is otherwise very close to China Glaze Kaleidoscope Him Out. Ring finger = Kaleidoscope Him Out; middle finger = "Cyberspace."

Interestingly, I consider China Glaze How About A Tumble to be in the purple family, albeit a lighter purple; at the same time, I consider Milani "Digital" to be pink. Yet, these two polishes were a fairly close match. Not a dupe, mind you, but they match up fairly well. In person, How About a Tumble shows more purple than Milani Digital. Ring finger = How About a Tumble; pinky = Digital.

All together, both comparisons:

Now, let's look at the gold and silver Milani holos, which have much more metallic surfaces than It's My Turn and Visit Me in Prism, which are more gold-colored and silver-colored rather than literally gold or silver metallic.

Ring finger (left) = China Glaze It's My Turn, and middle finger = Milani "3D" (with the same blooper as in my post on the Milani holos!). Below, see the holo "blaze" effect on the China Glaze as opposed to the Milani? They are both beautiful; I think it's a matter of what look one prefers, gold metallic versus a yellow-gold-colored. (The index is wearing the Milani silver "HD").

Below, I've left the silver Milani "HD" on the index finger, and now China Glaze "Visit Me in Prism," the icy, silvery holo, is on the middle finger.

The latter picture is from a different perspective, looking up the nail to see the holo shine!!

None of these are exact dupes, but hopefully one can see the similarities and differences between these four pairs.

China Glaze Kaleidoscope Collection Compilation

Now that I've finished my series on my 8 China Glaze Kaleidoscopes, I'm compiling pictures of all of them in one post for handy-dandy reference! Yay. And, of course, some works of art (bottle shots) to kick things off right. Links are given to each of the posts for more information about the individual polishes.

I am missing 4 of these polishes. If you know where I can get them, please let me know!!

I'm tickled pink about the fantastic response to my very first giveaway!! I'm thrilled to welcome so many new followers, too!! I can't wait to see who will win.

China Glaze Layers: Refresh Mint Green With He's Going in Circles

I have so many different things to post, aaagh! I need to continue with my Color Club Pardon My French review series, but I also have to keep the holo giddiness going in honor of my first giveaway, Holla For Holos!!
When I was putting together different bottles of polish to try to describe the color of China Glaze He's Going in Circles" I came up with a pairing with China Glaze Refresh Mint Green from the Up and Away Collection. Hmm....why not try this combination on??

I've got, below, Refresh Mint Green on my index and middle fingers, He's Going in Circles on my ring. I found the Refresh Mint Green to be a bit streaky and gloopy, and you can see this effect in my pictures. The color is really, really pretty, though, so maybe I can figure out a way to make it work.

Now the Refresh Mint Green is two coats on the ring, below, and one coat over the Refresh Mint Green on the middle finger.

Two bottles, three great looks!!!!  Brushing on a light coat of the He's Going in Circles transforms the mint green! The color is deepened, and the surface now has a slight colorful sparkliness!!

Now, let's check it out in different angles in the sunlight!

He's Going in Circles on its own is quite splendid, but using it as a top coat over this mint green is a great change of pace and a lovely combination. If you want a hint of color and holo sparkle, try this layering out!!

Announcing My First Giveaway---Holla for holos!

ETA: Hi! Thanks to everyone for the wonderful response to my very first giveaway!! Entries are now closed. Thanks, and good luck!!

Well, it's my giveaway so I can name it whatever I want, lol! No matter how corny. I accidentally ordered an extra bottle of Spin Me Round from Victoria Nail Supply. Thus, my loss (buying the extra I don't need) is going to be someone else's gain!!

If you are a follower of this blog, you qualify to receive this giveaway. But wait---there's more!! I cleared out my local drugstore's Milani Holographic Polish display in order to sweeten the pot, so to speak.

So, the first place winner gets the Spin Me Round plus a set of 6 Milani holos. I will also give some Milanis to a second place winner.

I am THRILLED to have 37 followers, currently. And at only 37 followers, this giveaway will be one of the easier ones to win!

1) Be a follower.
2) Leave a comment on this post between now and March 4 11:59 pm EST and tell me what holographic polish is your favorite.

Bam! You're entered!! On Friday, March 5, I will announce 2 random winners!!!

International followers are totally eligible as long as you live in a place where I can legally ship nail polish. I will send the package, and you will be responsible for any customs duties. I'll do my best to pack it up safely but of course if something happens beyond my control, I won't be responsible for any breakages in transit. I'll cry and commiserate, though, certainly!

Okay, sign on up! You won't be sorry, these are heavenly holos.

Spin Me Round, Like a Record Baby!!

Open up your lovin' arms and watch out here I come! Okay, I've got song lyrics in my head as I put together this blog post. And the energetic song is quite fitting for this awesome polish, the last in my 8 part series on the China Glaze Kaleidoscopes. "Spin Me Round" is a light, milky brown holo. On one hand, it's perhaps the most neutral of the Kaleidoscopes that I own, but on the other hand it's one of the blingiest!! I think the only one blingier is the gold one "It's My Turn." Once you get this baby into the light, the crystals light up and sparkle their holographic goodness like noone's business!!

Below, the bottle, with the seemingly benign and innocent crystal-like powder just resting there and waiting its turn to rock out:

Indeed, it has that light brown with whitish speckles look when indoors or in the shade, above. But, now let's get the sunlight going, and this polish will totally spin you round (like a record, baby, right round round round...I want your luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv!)

I'm in love with this polish, and in fact I might just wear it to work tomorrow!!! So work appropriate and neutral....so colorful and explosive!!!!
